As a quick, immediate sum-up, here are our headline takeaways.

Design Sweeps for The Lost Boys and Cats: The Jellicle Ball

The big musical flops really got nothing: Queen of Versailles and Beaches got nothing. Not even a sympathy nod for Chenoweth or Vosk. Given how Beaches has been playiing to virtually empty houses at the Majestic, it seems inevitable having failed to secure a single nomination, its closure notice will surely be posted soon.

Star power did not translate into nominations: Two-time Oscar winner Adrien Brody, making his Broadway debut in The Fear of 13, shockingly Chess star Lea Michele, Waiting for Godot’s Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, and Cynthia Nixon for Marjorie Prime were all conspicuous by their absence from the nomination lists.

The Rocky Horror Show had perhaps a better showing than expected.

And The Recs was particularly thrilled that our lovely British Layton Williams snatched a Best Featured Actor in a Musical nod. Go that iceberg!
