Strictly 2022: Week 9 Blackpool

Ah Blackpool! Known as the “Las Vegas of the North” (presumably by people who have never been to Las Vegas).

Ready yourself for VTs of the celebs ‘enjoying’ sticks of rock, rollercoaster rides while being frozen by Force 9 gales off the Irish Sea, copious mentions of the bounciness of Tower Ballroom floor and Judges wildly doling out Tens as if they were going out of fashion!

Wondering how late at night they filmed those outdoor dances. But more importantly no dress-n-boots combo for…where are we again?

Could me shocked that costume designer Vicky Giggles has gone Westwood with Helen’s frock!

Hamza & Jowita: American Smooth to (Theme From) New York, New York. Hamza “I want to see the glitz and glamour of Blackpool”. Well The Recs wishes you all the very best with that. Well that should have stopped the show. Tails. That song..but handsa, Hamza. Didn’t push the musical stabs enough.

Molly & Carlos: Jive to Bandstand Boogie. Bless Carlos looked frozen an terrified in the VT. And the dance was diminished by bad camera work and the added dancers getting in the way. Bottom Two prediction!

Kym & Graziano: Paso Doble to Only Girl (In The World) / We Found Love mashup. VT – mooshy peas…. yep we are in Strictly Blackpool. Kym as a Madame Tussauds waxwork..we’re saying nothing. A bit of gusset-wafting, needed a little bit more attack but not too bad.

Tyler & Dianne: Salsa to KC & The Sunshine Band Megamix. Better than the backup dancers were at the back – the rest was okay. Was more laboured than a salsa should be. Impressed Tyler had managed to grow his hair from last week!

Ellie T & Johannes: American Smooth to You’re My World. Johannes going outside in the pumpkin carriage having raided His Dark Materials wardrobe. Don’t blame, JoJo. Bad camera work AGAIN! Johannes getting rid of the extra AKA surplus dancers asap. A lorra, lorra waste of time getting Ellie on the moon.

Helen & Gorka: Quickstep to Valerie by Mark Ronson ft Amy Winehouse. Hells and Gorks win the Blackpool lottery but not having to go outside. Best dance of the night – you got to forget the others. Sharp, in sync, lively…YES!!! Helen: “Are you sweating?” Gorka: “No I’m crying” I love this partnership!

Fleur & Vito: Couple’s Choice to Destiny’s Child Megamix. For once, a very true emotional VT for a Couple’s Choice. Fleur IS a talent so we are expecting…the mid-section lacked pace. Fleur does not lack energy but because of the music it really died in the middle.
