Continuing The Recs‘ foolhardy mission to predict how well each contestant will do on the hallowed dancefloor, we turn our attention to the second-announced contestant, Kym Marsh – and our first haven’t-they-already-done-Strictly contestant.

Known For:

Acting in Coronation Street as Steve MacDonald’s fifth and not particularly well-liked wife, Michelle (pronounced Meee-shell) Connor. And she’s recently joined Waterloo Road which you may be surprised to learn is still going.

She had a pop singing career with the improbably punctuated Hear’Say who had hits with songs as Pure and Simple.

Previous dancing experience?

You don’t win Popstars, ITV’s Popstars without being able to pick up some choreo routines. Here is Kym performing at the Royal Variety despite it sounding as if someone’s firing a cannon at them. Wonder if Mylene still has that cape? Would be great for the paso doble!

Kym’s pop career should stand her in good stead but her 13-year run on Corrie perhaps makes her a tad Marmite. A wise little bird suggested that as she is Manchester-based, perhaps she’ll be paired with Gorka? If so, let’s hope he can help her unfold her arms.
