Strictly 2022: Week 6 Results show

Strictly Come Dancing’s Halloween Week was a night of heroes and horrors – but are the shocks over yet?

By Strictly standards, Halloween Week was a relatively calm affair. We missed the undeniable King of Halloween Giovanni Pernice – someone whose routines always embraced the spooky vibe but also delivered exquisite dances. We remembered Rose and Giovanni’s 40-scoring Tango to Shivers last year. Or Michelle and Giovanni’s unforgettable Addams Family foxtrot in Series 17. But we had no Giovanni this year… *hard judgmental stare at Richie Anderson*

Group dance was some sort of baffling riff on the Icarus (aka the AJ myth) myth. Utterly odd and pretentious yet strangely enjoyable. Nikita is soaring this season (though not too close to the Sun as yet).

First in the drop zone of doom are …. what the Hell. Fleur!!! Does not deserve to be in the dance off. The Recs were mixed in their take of Fleur’s number but there were many worse dances. MANY!

Tonight’s musical guest is… um… chart-topping sensation…um… *checks notes* Rina Sawayama. Literally the only artiste in the UK that had Hell in the title of their current release hence fitting the Halloween brief. And we make no judgement that her tune was supported by the spares – Neil Jones, Lauren Oakley, Prince Harry, Michelle Tsiakkas & Cameron Lombard…

Breaking news: apparently we were incorrect and we had included an attention-seeking ginger who was not in fact part of that routine. Could have sworn we had seen Neil…

Joining the Bottom Two, Martin Fowler James and Shrill Amy have ended in the dance off with their Bee routine – that’s gotta sting!

There was only one way this could go – and you didn’t need an EastEnders doof doof to call that one – even with Fleur falling out of a move.

Why did James go Bye Bye?

James was a bit of an enigma to us. After some extensive research, we can exclusively reveal that James plays Martin Fowler in BBC’s EastEnders! Baffled that they didn’t mention it. As to the pressing question if Martin James had a family, I’m afraid we’ve come up with zilch on that topic.

As to why he is making his exit this week, our best guess is that he had reached his level. Given the absolute gift of a Charleston on Halloween Week when others have to wrangle a routine out of a foxtrot or a Cha Cha Cha, his routine managed to be not Halloween and barely a Charleston. Flat-footed and bland from a couple who had all the dancing edge of wool. And the baffling, unexplained bee theme probably made it inevitable that he would buzz off this week.

More shocking is that Fleur ended up in the Bottom Two. On the leaderboard, Will, Tony and Ellie S were all below her so that’s at least three celebs who got more votes this week. What’s happening then?

The Recs’ jury was divided last night. On the yay wing, we loved the power and conviction that Fleur brings to the dance. She gives 100%. On the nay wing, we thought she stomped all over any salsa content and the mismatch of Fleur and Vito’s energies are not endearing this pairing to us so far. What does Fleur, clearly a talented dancer, need to do to shine in this year’s Strictly?
