First Edinburgh Fringe 2023 shows go on sale

The very first shows of the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 have gone onsale. The Recs picks out some intriguing shows worth checking out.

With this year’s Edinburgh Fringe taking place from 04 – 28 August 2023 , we get our first flavour of how it will shape up with 190 shows going on sale. Here is our first-glance take of what shows could be of interest in this first tranche of performances:

Illusionati – A Magical Conspiracy

The Great Baldini (emperor of illusion, prince of prestidigitation, maharajah of mystery) explores life through a series of magical illusions-his very first illusion, attempting Houdini’s greatest escape, Russian roulette and seizing control of the ILLUSIONATI-a shadowy group of elite Magicians who control the world through the Magical dark arts!

Speaking from Heaven (the celestial realm, not the gay nightclub), Lady Di narrates the events of her life with the help of puppets, video messages and an assortment of characters from her life who luckily happen to be sitting in the audience. The show is packing BDE – Big Diana Energy!

TONY! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera]

This hilarious new musical by Harry Hill and Steve Brown tells the story of how one man went from peace-loving, long-haired hippy and would-be pop star to war-mongering, multi-millionaire in just a couple of decades. Think Yes, Minister meets The Rocky Horror Show

Boys In The Buff

If you were wonder what there is to see at C-Venues, it turns out that quite a lot is on display. The ever cheeky Boys In The Buff returns to Edinburgh for Fringe 2023. Diana and her boys will sing, dance and tell stories about self-confidence and body image. For the bold among you, you will get the chance to get in the swing with show as there are two clothing optional performances!

Love Is Blue

Love Is Blue sees the worlds of City trader Olly and homeless young man Aaron collide. Don Cotter’s play asks why does Olly drink so much? Why did Aaron run away from his middle class home? And what will Olly’s dead partner, Sam, have to say about it all!
