Strictly 2022: Week 7 Results show

Okay lads and lassies – we know how this plays out. There were three ties on the leaderboard: Kym and Helen on 37 points, Molly and Fleur on 35 points and Ellie S and Will on 33. Yes but with Tyler, Ellie and Tony at the bottom of the table, their supporters will be galvanised to get votings but will it be enough?

If we’ve learned nothing from these last few weeks is that the most dangerous place on Strictly (apart from being seated anywhere near Day Varch’s singers) is in the middle of the leaderboard.

But first – something that no-one asked for – a Strictly pro Bollywood number. And is unlikely to again….

Now we’re into the meat and potatoes: who will be in the dance off? What a treat that Ellie T survived in spite of / because of Craig’s 3. But in the dance off, Ellie S and Nikita.

A brief respite from the tension comes with the frankly beautiful, multi-talented Luke Evans ~~flogging~~ performing a song, Bridge Over Troubled Whadder, from his new album.

It’s getting scary now. Who is also in the red-lighted dance of doom? Annoyed they kept Kym to the very last but Molly (TessBot extending the claw of sympathy) in the bottom two was no surprise.

Sad to see Molly in the bottom two – mostly as we never wanted to see that twee dance again. We loved that routine from Ellie and Nikita…but that seemed messier than the first time.

Oh jeez….the tears!A beautiful moment..until the TessBot threatened to cry / fuse…

The Curse of the Charleston is REAL! Week 5, Jayde & Karen are eliminated with the Ann Widdicombe-wigged Charleston to The Ballad of Barry and Freda. Week 6, James & Amy buzzed off to a bee-theme Charleston – the pattern is forming…

And now Week 7 and the Charleston-dancing couple go! It used to the guaranteed high-marked dance in competitions gone by.

It was always going to be tricky for Ellie to perform a dance that is characterised in part by exaggerated extensions. But if you have to leave Strictly how fantastic to leave in a gorgeous frock.

We’ve loved Ellie S and Nikita’s pairing. She has a work ethos of a true Paralympian but an adorable ditzy sense of humour. And what a revelation Nikita has been. Brought in as a twinky replacement for AJ (who?! – now that’s showbiz), he has emerged as a wonderfully mature partner to Ellie.

The saddest The Recs has been to lose any couple so far this year but what a fantastic run Ellie and Nikita have had.
