A new soap Riverside launches as an audio drama

Riverside is the new soap drama on the block – based on the serial by bestselling author Glenda Young

Soap fans are already in mourning about the imminent demise of the beloved Aussie drama, Neighbours, after 37 years of episodes in and around the Melbourne cul-de-sac. But as one door closes in Ramsay Street, a new one opens in Riverside. Where, you might ask?

Riverside is a new audio soap that is launching in July.  The audio drama is based on the Riverside serial by best-selling author Glenda Young, currently enjoyed by 140,000 loyal readers of The People’s Friend magazine every week, with scripts adapted by Ian Skillicorn from the serial’s original characters and stories.

The show will feature the usual soap staples of romance, heartbreak and secrets, as well as gentle wit and humour, with an initial cast of actors known from Neighbours and The Archers.

Lisa Armytage
Toby Laurence
Becky Wright

The cast include Lisa Armytage who played Dr Beverly Robinson, wife of Jim Robinson, in Neighbours and both Toby Laurence who plays troubled twin Freddie Pargetter and Becky Wright who played Nic Grundy from 12 years in  The Archers.

This new 14-part audio drama will be available in bite-sized 15-minute episodes from Audible, Amazon and iTunes from Wednesday 27 July.
